First Chapter Review: A Stranger in the Family by Patricia McLinn

I grabbed a free Kindle version of the first book in Patricia McLinn's Bardville, Wyoming series in 2013.

BLURB: He came for his son. He never expected her.

A sexy, intriguing stranger arrives out of the blue at her Wyoming ranch, threatening the one thing Cambria protects more fiercely than her heart — her family. Bodie’s discovery that he fathered a son 17 years ago leads him to the warm and welcoming Weston family. That’s the easy part. But his response to one member of the family is far more than he ever expected. The sparks between him and Cambria are real … and so is the danger to his hopes for their future if she finds out why he’s really in Wyoming.

COVER: It is a pretty cover, and the mountains are typical for the Wyoming setting. Maybe the rocker on the front porch means something, but that isn't clear in the first chapter. I love the blue, white, and sandy colors behind the picture frame.

FIRST CHAPTER: Boone had sent his friend to find out more information. Then he headed to a working Wyoming ranch to meet the son he never knew about. He didn't expect his attraction to Cambria, and she has her suspicions about him.

KEEP READING: A definite yes! Loved the opening chapter: how the author introduces the characters, how she creates conflict right away, how the two love interests meet, and more. I look forward to reading more of this one.
