My 2019 Reading Year in Review

I'm a bit late to the party, but Realtors don't always get time off around the holidays. I'm tying up the last loose ends for a closing and I rented out two units this week for a landlord. I had a lovely listing luncheon on Thursday, too. I'm also excited that the copy edits are in the works for the first manuscript I acquired for 4RV Publishing. Dust of Lies by G.K. Davenport can be pre-ordered here.

Here is a look at my 2019 Reading Year:
  • Number of books read: 42 (only 8 shy of my goal)
  • Number of books reviewed: 41
  • Reading challenges: None completed--well, in fairness, I never started
  • First book: Marilla of Green Gables by Sarah McCoy (not finished)
  • Last book: How to Be a Better Catholic by Fred Ferraro (not reviewed yet)
  • Number of books carried over to my 2020 TBR pile: 237
  • Number of overdue reviews:  16

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - Dec 2

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving. We hosted this year, so the week was filled with a bit of cleaning, a bit of cooking, and a bit of family. Right now, we are in the middle of a three-day snow storm--our first storm of the season. I love the way it looks. Not so thrilled with the idea of driving in it.

The holiday weekend also meant some reading got done, too. I finished this book and wrote a review, which you can find here.

I need to review these two books this month.

After that, I need to catch up with these. If I can knock half of these off before the end of the year, I'll be in good shape for 2020.

I am still hopeful to break into seasonal titles, too.

What are you reading this week? Any seasonal titles on your list?

Can someone please tell me how Monday keeps coming back so quickly? I swear we just started last week. I shouldn't complain. This past week was a great one. I had a closing, but my work schedule is slowing down a bit. I was able to take Saturday and Sunday off, which meant we could get together with some of our church family for lunch before the holidays are upon us. Friends are such a blessing.

I reviewed New Beginnings at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard this weekend. You can find my review here. I also started this book, which has been in my TBR pile for a long, long time.

After that, I need to catch up with these. It looks like a lot of Amish fiction is in my future.

I might try to break off and read something seasonal from my TBR pile.

I have a review due mid-December on this book.

Hope you are getting a lot of reading done. Wishing all my friends a happy and blessed Thanksgiving,.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - Nov 11

Welcome back to Monday. I hope you had a fabulous week. On this Veteran's Day, I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all who have served our country. May God bless you and your families.

This weekend, I took my first full weekend off since before we left on vacation. Though I sent an email and answered a text or two, most of the weekend belonged to family and tasks around the house.

In my reading world, I've begun to prepare for next year's reading. I'm rearranging my books and going through the bookshelves to donate some to the library, and then make sure I have only the books I need to review on the shelf in my office. It looks like I am down to about a dozen printed ones. I can't even think about the e-books yet. My Kindles are coming to the end of their lives and I'm not sure when I will replace them.

Last week I reviewed:

The Emotion Thesaurus
Federal Pianist
Silent Meridian and A Pocketful of Lodestones

I started this book last night. It shouldn't take me long.

After that, I need to catch up with these from my TBR pile.

What are you reading this week?

In case you hadn't noticed, life has been CRAZY! Didn't mean to drop off the blogging world. Not much reading going on either. For one thing, too darn tired. For another thing, been busy working all kinds of ridiculous hours.

The week of October 21 should bring with it a better schedule. Fingers crossed.

Like I said, not much reading. I have to write the review for this one.

Still reading this one.

Next up are these three:

Not sure after that. I am not planning to request any others for review. The last quarter of the year I need to focus on my writing.

What is going on in your reading and blogging world? Anything new to share?

Good golly, Miss Molly. Could someone please stop the train and let me get off? Ever since I came back from North Carolina it has been one thing after another. I've missed blogging and reading, though I did manage to finish this one last week. Look for my review soon.

I cracked opened the cover of this one, but I've been working late to stay on top of things, so haven't really dived into it yet.

Next up are these two:

Then I really need to focus on these:

I'm thinking maybe one of these will be next in line if I can ever stop requesting new books to review. I really am my own worst enemy.
