Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Something I Always Thought Was True (But Wasn't)

The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews. They offer this blog hop as a weekly prompt to help you gain new friends and visitors. You don't have to participate every week, but if you decide to post and join the blog hop for a week, Long and Short Reviews requests that you share your link in their weekly post on their website (which will be the top post on the home page each Wednesday morning). The link list remains open for new links for 48 hours. Visit the other bloggers participating to see what they discuss that week. Comments are appreciated.

Happy Hump Day for you Monday through Friday people. How's your week going so far?

Today's prompt for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge asks us to share something we always thought was true, but wasn't. Oddly, my mind went to one thing: thinking my dad went to school in Canada and used a dog sled to get there in the winter.

My dad is one of those guys who could, as the saying goes, "sell ice to an Eskimo." He worked in sales throughout most of his professional life. He has a competitive side and a deep-seated desire to win. Our family game time was Sunday afternoons, and just when we thought we had Dad beat, he would pull out money from under the game board. I don't recall a game he didn't win.

Why he told me the story of the dog sled and school in Canada is something I will never know. While I am uncertain where he was born, he graduated from the same school I did. I was an adult with at least one child of my own before my oldest sister told me the truth. Family dynamics can be fun.

My godfather has a way of telling jokes that SOUND like he's sharing a personal story from the past. I've gotten savvy about them the last two decades or so. XD
