BLURB:

As fitness professionals, we want to help you reach your goals, but most importantly, we want to teach you how to keep them for a lifetime. We are not looking for temporary success here. We want fitness to be embedded as a permanent priority no matter what is going on in the world around you. You are so capable of harnessing the power of self-sufficiency and reaping the overflow of rewards.

In the fitness industry today, we are fighting a wicked battle between these two ideas; a quick fix to hit a goal (like giving a man a basket of fish) and long-term success based on knowledge and behavior change, consistently (like teaching a man to fish for himself). We know which man will go hungry. Everyday there are more and more predators popping up who are making millions of dollars, preying upon a person’s deep desire to look and feel better. They are selling weight loss products and performance enhancing products that will, ultimately, only lead to temporary success. Likely, none at all. Promises of fast results with little or no effort can cloud the judgment of even the smartest and most cautious of consumers.

In April of 2014, the Make Fitness a Priority community was established in Overland Park, Kansas with this very goal in mind. We want you to get off the roller coaster ride of temporary success and crashing failure, and we want you to do it among friends with the same goals. There is no prerequisite in your physical abilities, everyone is welcomed. We know all our lives are incredibly unique. Your plan should match your uniqueness. From there, consistency is born and your quality of life skyrockets.

These 30 tips and tricks were created from our Saturday morning Priority Fit Camp, one of our community gatherings. In 2019, we implemented a Trainer Tip to be briefly discussed between circuits, in an effort to make a bigger impact on our community. You may be thinking, “how can one 2-3 minute tip make a big impact?” In the following pages, you will see very clearly that small changes, consistently, is what fuels this long-term success we want so badly for you. If you are a beginner, the amount of information available to you is overwhelming. Doing too much, too fast, will lead to burn out and failure to change.

Take your time to wander slowly through these pages, as it fits in your life. Read one tip per week or per day, as it suits you. Take the time to focus, meditate upon and implement them because, as we said before, small consistent changes will build your path to feeling your best. Find your strength, you were built to not only succeed, but never settle. You were built to Elevate.

DATE BOUGHT: 7/9/2020

WHY I BOUGHT IT: I don't fit into my jeans as easily as I used to. LOL! Honestly, I need to exercise more, if for no other reason than I don't want to be hunched over because of my osteoporosis. I did good on vacation, but now that we are back and my work schedule is hectic, I've only walked one day and used my resistance bands once. Not quite enough.

Have you read this book? Do you exercise regularly? If not, what obstacles prevent you from making it a priority? No judgment here. I hate exercising. :)

Here is another book from my Kindle freebie list. There is no excuse for me not to have read this because it is only 39 pages.

BLURB: Anna is content with her life. She works as a kindergarten teacher for a local school, and gives as much of her time as she can to her church. The new pastor at her church has caused quite a stir among the single females, because not only is he a single pastor, but he’s a handsome single pastor. Anna knows she doesn’t have a shot with him. Or does she?

DATE BOUGHT: 1/2/13 (Over five years to read a short story. Shame on me.)

WHY I BOUGHT IT: I like trying authors new to me, but I'm hesitant to start a series with an author I'm not familiar with. Silly, since that's how I discovered Marilyn Meredith and Kathi Macias, but it's one of my quirks that is still being worked out. I'm also picky on the romance novels I read, so this short story is a way to check out the author's style and see if it works for me.

How do you feel about series books? Will you try a new author when you know you're picking up the first book in a series?

But, while securing the Secret Formula will bring Doc Gutson riches beyond her wildest dreams, her other motive for moving into Bella's apartment becomes apparent as revenge drives her to destroy Bella's life.

Seasonal Romance: Doubting Abbey by Samantha Tonge (Kindle Freebie)

Swapping downstairs for upstairs… How hard can it be!?

Look up the phrase ordinary girl and you’ll see a picture of me, Gemma Goodwin – I only look half-decent after applying the entire contents of my make-up bag, and my dating track-record includes a man who treated me to dinner…at a kebab shop. No joke!

The only extraordinary thing about me is that I look EXACTLY like my BFF, Abbey Croxley. Oh, and that for reasons I can’t explain, I’ve agreed to swap identities and pretend be her to star in the TV show about her aristocratic family’s country estate, Million Dollar Mansion.

So now it’s not just my tan I’m faking – it’s Kate Middleton style demure hemlines and lady-like manners too. And amongst the hundreds of fusty etiquette rules I’m trying to cram into my head, there are two I really must remember; 1) No-one can ever find out that I’m just Gemma, who’d be more at home in the servants quarters. And 2) There can be absolutely no flirting with Abbey’s dishy but buttoned-up cousin, Lord Edward.

Aaargh, this is going to be harder than I thought…

The Hybrid Author by Dianne G. Sagan: Free Today and Tomorrow at Amazon!

These days, there isn't one simple way to get published. Some authors take the traditional route, others self-publish. Some authors are what is known as hybrid authors. According to Dianne G. Sagan in her book, The Hybrid Author, hybrid authors are finding success by boldly embracing multiple paths to publication, giving readers more of what they want--books. As you might recall, I reviewed the first chapter of The Hybrid Author not to long ago at http://thebookconnectionccm.blogspot.com/2014/04/first-chapter-review-hybrid-author-by.html

This book is FREE for Kindle today and tomorrow. Visit http://www.amazon.com/Hybrid-Author-Dianne-G-Sagan-ebook/dp/B00JNC4KL6/ to purchase your copy.

Musing Mondays - February 17

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

My Musing:

For a while I was downloading a ton of free Kindle books to my device. I still do upon occasion, but I am much more selective now. Here is a short list of books I probably wouldn't have on my device if they weren't free, not because they don't sound interesting, but because I wouldn't have paid for them if I already had plenty of reading material here:

I'm not much of a fantasy fan, so this isn't a genre I would generally download anyway. I realize, however, that the young adult market is filled with fantasy titles and I like to try out books in genres I don't usually read.

This book is about our need for ultimate love and understanding. Set in today's society where self-doubt, bullying, broken homes and brokenness is rampant, this book is a must read.

"Seventh Dimension - The Door" is a first-hand account of a young girl, Shale Snyder, who is treated unfairly by her family, school, and classmates. Fear distorts her sense of self-worth and she is enveloped with guilt because of a secret from her past.

While on a sojourn similar to Christian in "Pilgrim's Progress," Shale discovers talking animals and a handsome young man with whom she falls in love. Her journey is one of self-discovery as she battles personal demons, family conflict, wicked underlings, and comes face-to-face with a personal decision she must make - bound up in the king she meets in first century Israel.

Contemporary romance is another genre I don't read a ton of. I enjoy it when I dabble in this genre, but I prefer historical romance.

Book One: Almost Perfect

Maddy
was always the artistic one of the group, full of life from her saucy
red curls to her vintage hippie skirts. Her challenge, the friends
decide, is to get her artwork accepted at a gallery. A job as arts
director at a summer camp near Santa Fe--with its thriving art
scene--seems like just the thing.

There's just one catch: The
camp is run by Maddy's high school flame, Joe, whose heart she smashed
when she chose her art over marriage to him. His anger over the breakup
hasn't cooled one bit. But neither has their attraction.

Old
desires burn hotter than ever as Joe makes it clear there's only one way
back into his heart: She has to get serious about the art career she
once valued above all else. But will falling in love help or hinder
Maddy as she struggles to meet her challenge?

This one sounds like a fabulous book. The cover is a bit creepy.

Samuel Carsten is a mild mannered academic who is summoned to the reading of his grandfather's will. The reading slowly spirals out of control as he learns he must take part in a complicated game to keep a horrible family secret buried. He must survive for twenty four hours trying to right the wrongs of the past while being chased by a relentless assassin. If he succeeds the past stays hidden and he becomes rich beyond his imagination. If he fails it could cost him his life!

Do you own any digital books you might not have downloaded if they weren't free?

Author Interview: S.P. Wish, Author of Roses of Doom

Today we are interviewing S.P. Wish, author of Roses of Doom. S.P. Wish is a novel-writing duo made up of twins S. Wish and P. Wish. They published their debut novel titled Roses of Doom on Smashwords.com where it is available for free download.

Welcome to Book Tours and More, S.P. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

We are both twins and have been writing since childhood. We like to read romance, mystery and horror but sometimes read other genres too.
When did you begin writing?

We started writing when we were eight. At that time, we used to write illustrated books. We used to write the stories and then make pictures and color them.

Do you write during the day, at night or whenever you can sneak a few moments?

We write whenever we can and whenever we are able to. When the book is great, we cannot stop ourselves from writing more because we want to live more in the world of that book.

What is this book about?

Roses of Doom is a thriller/horror/children's novel. A major part of the book is also about friendship and good friends. Here is a summary-
When horror strikes..............black roses are left behind.

A school camping trip leads quirky middle schooler Mizu, her twin brother Kaji, her friend Akumu and school newspaper reporter Seiya to a mysterious mansion in Greenfire Forest. In the mansion, Mizu's friend is swallowed up by a hole that opens up and closes instantly! Many other unexplained happenings follow until Mizu discovers an old newspaper with information about a centuries old intrigue which has remained hidden till now..........and no person who knows of its existence is allowed to live.......

What inspired you to write it?

We have always been interested in supernatural stories and happenings. Creating a world different from the one we live in and a world which has more adventure, excitement was also a major driving force.
Who is your biggest supporter?

Our grandfather has always supported us to continue writing no matter what. We are thankful to him for believeing in us.

Who is your favorite author?

We have many favorites. Barbara Cartland, R.L. Stine, Linda Goodman and Judith McNaught are some of them.

Where can readers purchase a copy of your book?

The book is available on Smashwords.com  and lulu.com for FREE. The purpose of keeping the book free is so that as many possible can read it and enjoy it. Due to the recession, people are forced to cut down on expenditure but all the same, they need a good book to read. That's why Roses of Doom is available for free.
Do you have a website and/or blog where readers can find out more?

Yes, our website http://www.spwishworks.blogspot.com/ offers updates on the book as well as free chapters, which are posted every week.
Do you have a video trailer to promote your book? If yes, where can readers find it?

We have personally made the trailer of Roses of Doom. It is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAFInpvLYoE Please tell us what you think of it.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with aspiring authors everywhere?

Believe in yourself and do your best.

What is up next for you?

We are currently working on a high-school comedy novel. It is supposed to be a series. It has progressed well until now and we will bring you more information as it comes.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Thank you for having us, Cheryl. We are glad to do this interview with you. And for everyone who is reading this, thank you too and hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks for spending time with us today, S.P. We wish you great success.
