Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Things That Scare Me

The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews. They offer this blog hop as a weekly prompt to help you gain new friends and visitors. You don't have to participate every week, but if you decide to post and join the blog hop for a week, Long and Short Reviews asks that you share your link on their weekly post on their website (it will be the top post on the home page each Wednesday morning). The link list remains open for new links for 48 hours. Visit the other bloggers participating to see what they discuss that week. Comments are appreciated.

How is it Wednesday again? Does how quickly time seems to fly by indicate I am old? This week's topic for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is about things that scare me. That is a rather long list, but I will give you my top three.

  1. Being injured or harmed while on the job. I never thought real estate was a risky career. After three scares, one that necessitated calling law enforcement, I've realized real estate agents are targeted. A 2020 National Association of REALTORS (NAR) survey estimated that 60,000 REALTORS are victims of violent crimes each year, including assault, robbery, and murder. In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 36 real estate professionals were killed on the job in 2020. Over the years, I have mitigated risks by adjusting my business practices, but risks still remain.
  2. Death by drowning. After nearly drowning as a child, water and I have a tough relationship. I can't stand water anywhere near my face, and I will only stand in still water. Yes, we go to the ocean every year for vacation, but I stay firmly planted on the beach.
  3. Bridge or Tunnel collapsing. Considering the deteriorated state of our infrastructure, traveling over bridges and tunnels usually causes a fair amount of anxiety. We traverse the Chesapeake Bay Bridge–Tunnel each year on our way to and from the Outer Banks. It's not fun for me at all, especially considering my fear of water.
Do we share any of the same fears? Any tips on handling the anxiety that comes with these fears?
