Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books with a High Page Count & Tell Me Something Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Happy Tuesday! This is me pretending my work schedule isn't crazy, and that I'm reading and blogging just as much as I would like. Hope you're having a great week.

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is all about those beefy books, those ones with the high page count. Let's check them out.

Top Ten Books with a High Page Count

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling is the longest book in the series at 896 pages. I listened to this one in my car, like most of the series.

The Stand by Stephen King is the longest book I've ever read. Its unabridged version is 1152 pages.

I have tried unsuccessfully--more than once--to make it all the way through Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. This book clocks in at 1168 pages.

I've read The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough numerous times. Still disappointed Father Ralph didn't look like Richard Chamberlain. This historical novel is 692 pages.

James McPherson's Battle Cry of Freedom remains my favorite Civil War narrative. It is 867 pages.

I've tried to read Gone with the Wind a couple of times. One day, I will tackle this 959-page book.

Lincoln by David Herbert Donald was one of the first Lincoln biographies I had read. This beefy book is 714 pages long. I probably have the American flag cover, and I feel like I accidentally bought the book with this cover because I forgot I had the other one.

I read Ulysses by James Joyce in school. That took some time, considering it is 783 pages.

Another school reading assignment was Homer's The Odyssey, which is 541 pages.

Finally, I have read bits and pieces of A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn. Like many of the older books, the page counts change. I think the one I have here is 784 pages.

How many of these have you read? What is the longest book you plowed through? Have you read it more than once?

In September, I will be introducing a meme that is new to this blog. Tell Me Something Tuesday (TMST) is hosted by Jen Twimom at That's What I'm Talking About. TMST is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general. Participation is optional, and you leave your comments in the weekly post if you are participating. Check it out if you would like to join.
