Because inquiring minds are always curious about things, I wondered if my blogging friends would give me some insight into their motivations for blogging. I will share my own thoughts as well.
- Why did you start blogging?
- Did you or do you monetize your blog?
My answer: The Book Connection is part of the Amazon Influencers & Associates Program. If a reader clicks on a link that goes to Amazon and purchases that item, I may earn a commission on that sale. When The Busy Mom's Daily was online, I intended for that to be a monetized blog, but I've never had the time or the technological know-how to make real money off a blog. At this point, I blog for fun and because I enjoy jotting down my thoughts.
- What is your favorite part of blogging?
My answer: Connecting with other authors and bloggers around the world. I've made so many online friends that I never would have met without this blog.
- Are you interested in or do you already vlog or podcast?
My answer: I feel like podcasting is in my future, I'm just not quite sure how to effectively put it together with my limited time and knowledge. Then there is that crazy thing about defining what the podcast should be about and finding your target audience. It could be about real estate, books, or writing.
I look forward to reading what you have to say. Thanks for participating.

I started blogging in 2015 to share my journey with breast cancer with family and friends. It slowly morphed into what it is today. My favorite part is connecting with other bloggers. I'll probably keep my same platform, but am always looking for methods to save time. Happy writing!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I started blogging in 2008 just as a hobby and a way to keep track of my reading. A year later I switched platforms from blogger to wordpress. I love "meeting" readers from around the world. I have moments of wanting to close the blog but for now have just cut back on posts as well as the number of books I review.
I started blogging in 2005 as I NEEDED an outlet to talk about books. I have always been on Blogger and can't see that changing as I know what I am doing with it. I have never monetised my blog. It would be nice to but I also don't want every post to have ads all the way through it.
I have struggled at times and did I about a year off of talking about books because I wasn't reading but I came back a few years ago now and still love it. I do struggle with how to increase engagement but I still love doing it so will continue for the foreseeable future.
I did start a bookstagram account earlier this year but can't see myself doing a podcast or anything like that!
Thanks for your thoughts, Mary. I find Wordpress is less user friendly than Blogger but that it has additional functionality. I've also cut back on book reviews, which makes blogging more fun. Appreciate you sharing.
Thanks for your comments, Marg. Most of my blogs have been Blogger, so I probably won't change either. A bookstagram sounds like so much fun! Appreciate you sharing your thoughts.
