Welcome to It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and Mailbox Monday.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.
Welcome to The Book Connection. It's late on Sunday as I am writing this post. I've spent the last 2.5 days taking down Christmas and organizing a few cabinets and the books in my office. The cats thought they could help.
Open a box, and Dwight will climb in it.
Can just see the green of Travis' eyes.
Travis took over the empty part of the shelf, and Dwight was jealous.
In case you hadn't heard. It's been quiet cold in the Northeast. Actually, it's been cold all over. When it gets that cold, I bake. So, I pulled out YiaYia's bread pan and made banana bread.
It was so cold on Sunday, that we figured we better dress up Theo. His paws have been bothering him on our walks. We made it back with three of the four shoes on his feet.
In my reading world, the review of this one appeared on the blog last week. You can find it here.
I read the first chapter of Love's Long Journey by Janette Oke. You can read my thoughts here.
I've been listening to this one on Audible. The author spent the first half talking all about himself and his career, but the second half is filled with helpful information for entrepreneurs.
I am reading these two.
I need to read these next.
I have also agreed to review these two books once they arrive.
Upcoming virtual book tours:
- Civil Twilight by Anique Taylor - January 23 (guest post)
- The Location Shoot by Patricia Leavy - January 31 (interview)
- When the Red Bird Flies by Courtney Reames Haydell - Feb 5 (review at TC&TBC)
The Christmas blog is still going. In addition to sharing my recent Christmas titles, these posts appeared last week:
Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
I've had a busy mailbox this year. I'm still expecting a few more, but then I will hold off on book buying. I want to go through the boxes of books in my closet before adding more.
That's it for me. Looking forward to checking out your blogs to see what you were up to last week.

I finished getting my Christmas stuff all put away today, too. It feels good since that was a huge to do items, but it's always a bit sad when that stuff goes away.
Love that the Christmas blog is still going!
Have a great week.
You have been very busy. I was late getting my Christmas stuff down this year, but I blame that on the cold weather. Who really feels like doing anything in the bad weather?!
It was very nice of the kitties to help out :)
I hope you enjoy the books and the weather starts getting better. Have a great week!
We've been keeping our dogs in during the really cold days. We have a fenced in back yard so they are out there every 2-3 hours (especially with a pup) and they have been running and playing in the snow. We've never had a dog that walked with booties on. In the past, our dogs have just stood there. It's such a drag taking down Christmas decorations.
I am so ready for the weather to warm up. It's supposed to be in the 30's this week and I am so grateful. Who thought we'd be happy with 30 degrees? I hope you warm up as well. You have some great books on your post today. Have a great week and happy reading.

Our cold snap has ended, at least for a while. It must be clean up reorganize for lots of folks. I tackled by library (and the kitchen junk drawer) this week. Nice looking books too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
I agree, Mark. Nice to have it done, but sad for all the lights and fun to be tucked away.
Thanks, Marg. Going to do my bet to keep it moving along.
Totally with you, Deb. Cold weather makes you want to sit in a chair with a blanket and a hot beverage to read the day away.
Thanks, Yvonne. They try to be good helpers whenever they can.
Barb, you should have seen the video I took of Theo trying to walk in his shoes. Because he is a mix, his back legs don't fit well into shoes.
Right, Susan? It's 33 right now, and I am thrilled.
Nice job, Kathy. It does seem like cleaning and organizing time lately. I stayed up late last night to finish the job, so at least all the books in my office are all set, and I have two piles: one to sell and one to donate.
Thanks for visiting, everyone!
It must have been a weekend for taking down the last of the holiday decorations. We finally got our tree down and I have my living room/library back. I love banana bread. You've put me in the mood for some. Thank you for sharing your animal photos. They look like they are having fun. My cats love boxes (no surprise there) and finding interesting hiding places. I hope you have a wonderful week, Cheryl, and enjoy your reading!
I had to blow up the image to see Travis' green eyes. :-) Love those curious cats. And I like the booties on Theo. Also, the banana bread calls to me.
Sounds like you've got a lot going on in the reading world. Amish Love Letters look interesting to me.
Have a good week, stay warm, and enjoy Happy Reading!
