It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and Mailbox Monday - Mar 20

Welcome to It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and Mailbox Monday.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

Welcome back to Monday! I hope you had a great week. We have had a lot going on here as we prepare for my mother-in-law to come live with us. I feel like every other day I buy something else. :)

I ordered a French door for our formal living room. We are going to remove the pillars and close this room off from the hallway, so that she can have some privacy. New bed linens will be here tomorrow. New room darkening drapes arrived last week. The room is being painted gray, so that it won't be as dark as it is now. Hopefully, she will like it. At least cleaning out the hallway closet so we have room for her clothes won't cost anything. LOL!

With work, I haven't had much reading time. I had downloaded the Hallow app, which I really loved using morning and night, but I simply can't justify $70 for it. I switched to the free Daily Prayer app

I will get back to reading from this John Maxwell book in the mornings as well.

I've been listening to this one as I have time.

I need to start reading this one for an April 24 review.

These two are next for May 1 and May 29 tours. Not sure why I thought signing up for three review books made sense, but at least one of them is small.

Upcoming virtual book tours:
  • The Shade Under the Mango Tree by Evy Journey
  • The Vanishing at Castle Moreau by Jamie Jo Wright - Apr 24 (review)
  • The Not So True Adventures of Brandon, Josh and Adam by Barry M. Fellinger - May 1 (review at TC&TBC)
  • The Giving Back Tree by Tarky Lee - May 29 (review at TC&TBC)

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

My physical mailbox was empty, but amazingly, I won a Goodreads giveaway. Looking forward to this one.

I also grabbed this upcoming release from Netgalley.

That's it for me. I am posting this early because I have appointments starting first thing in the morning. I will be checking in at blogs in the afternoon. Hope you have a great week. Happy spring to those in the Northern Hemisphere!

How lovely to fix up that space for your motherk-in-law. I adore French doors, and once upon a time I had a guest house with them.

Enjoy your week!

I'm sure your MIL will be thrilled with your efforts - the room will be beautiful, I'm sure.
Have a good week, Cheryl!

Nice of you to make a room special for your mother-in-law. I have been eyeing the Hallow app as I have enjoyed The Chosen and other series from Angel Studio. I already am engaged with YOU version for prayers and Bible Study so I have hesitated adding an additional app.
I gather the Giving Back Tree is an update from the Giving Tree?
Hope your week goes well with Happy Reading!

You've been busy. I hope you MIL loves the space. Just remember it will be an adjustment process for everyone. But you have all the love and patience you need. :)

I'm sure your mother-in-law truly appreciates all your efforts to create a welcoming, private space for her.

Is The Vanishing at Castle Moreau related to The Island of Doctor Moreau? I'm currently listening to a book that's a bit of a spinoff of that classic, among other classic Gothic/horror novels. It's a lot of fun.

Enjoy your week!

Thanks for visiting last week, everyone. My week quickly got away from me. I hope she enjoys the space. I'm more worried about how unsettling the change will be for her because of the dementia.

Laurel, French doors are pretty. I've always liked them, too.

Mary Beth, I hope the change looks good when it's done.

Thanks, Jo, Greg, and Yvonne.

Martha, if Hallow were cheaper, I would have kept it. I really enjoyed it. I just can't justify the cost when there are free options out there.

Thanks, Emma. It sounds like a good one.

Serena, you are right. Lots of adjustments for all, requiring patience.

Jen, I'm not sure, since I've never read The Island of Doctor Moreau. Here is the description:

A haunting legend. An ominous curse. A search for a secret buried deep within the castle walls.

In 1870, orphaned Daisy François takes a position as housemaid at a Wisconsin castle to escape the horrors of her past life. There she finds a reclusive and eccentric Gothic authoress who hides tales more harrowing than the ones in her novels. As women disappear from the area and the eerie circumstances seem to parallel a local legend, Daisy is thrust into a web that could ultimately steal her sanity, if not her life.

In the present day, Cleo Clemmons is hired by the grandson of an American aristocratic family to help his grandmother face her hoarding in the dilapidated Castle Moreau. But when Cleo uncovers more than just the woman's stash of collectibles, a century-old mystery and the dust of the old castle's curse threaten to rise again . . . this time to leave no one alive to tell the sordid tale.

Award-winning author Jaime Jo Wright seamlessly weaves a dual-time tale of two women who must do all they can to seek the light amid the darkness shrouding Castle Moreau.

Thanks again to everyone for stopping by. Sorry it took me so long to comment.
