If you like interesting and engaging poetry that makes you think, Impermanence by Ren Powell is the perfect choice.
Started as a meditation project on the idea of impermanence, this moving collection focuses on us being the stories and our bodies being the books. Being compared to un-bound poetry is nothing I would have expected, but it seems so right.
In various pages throughout the collection, there are pages of artwork that complement the text. Some feature a bust photographed in various locations in the Jaeren landscape of Norway that symbolizes our body-as-story slowly losing shape. You'll have to read Impermanence for more of that story.
I definitely had favorites from this collection, noted by these first lines:
Time is the dark matter...
If time moving through us...
Everything that comes together...
A rock fits nicely...
I used to consider myself somewhat of a poet, but I see that I really just enjoy writing in rhyme. Powell, however, is a true artist in every sense of the word. She digs deep and brings through true emotions that touch the heart and beg for greater ponderance.
Impermanence by Ren Powell is a beautiful collection.

I received a copy of this book from the author. This review contains my honest opinions, which I have not been compensated for in any way.
