Top Ten Blogging Confessions

It took me a long time to love my library. It's not that I didn't love it, really; it's just that I usually insist upon owning most of my books. Once I began writing more seriously and had to perform market research, I began visiting more often. Now, I go in regularly--even if it's just with the kids to borrow books from the teens section.

I haven't read a lot of classics. This won't surprise many of you. I've talked about it before. I simply have so many more recent books I want to read that I don't make time for the classics. Most that I read in high school didn't do much for me, so I haven't delved into them much as an adult.

I purposely don't visit bookstores often. I know I should support the stores over Amazon, but I find I can better control my impulse spending if I don't enter a store. As soon as I start browsing the aisles, I know I'm buying something.

I love buying books for research purposes. Though I tend to borrow more books for research projects than purchase them, I'm not opposed to dishing out cash if I know I will use a resource more than once.

I usually like to read a series in order. It bugs me when I discover I've read a series out of order. If they are total stand alones with different characters, then it doesn't matter as much, but I still prefer to read a series in order.

I can't stop downloading Kindle freebies. I don't believe I've read more than a quarter of my Kindle books, but if I read a great synopsis on a freebie, I will download it.

I'm addicted to blogging. Even when I don't have time, I will stress myself out posting at one of my numerous blogs because I crave the creative outlet.

I own so many books that my office floor is littered with them. I've run out of bookshelves, so I have books piled up on my office floor along one entire wall. The neat freak in me hates it, but I'm too cheap to invest in new shelves right now.

I rarely read popular books when they are popular. I'm not good at being a follower, so I don't tend to read popular books that everyone is raving about until a good deal of time has passed. That means Harry Potter, Twilight, The Maze Runner, and The Fault in Our Stars are still "to be read" books for me.

There are actually a couple of TV movies I prefer over the books. I thought the Anne of Avonlea movie, which is based on Anne of Avonlea and Anne of Windy Poplars by Lucy Maud Montgomery had a better overall plot and romantic storyline than the books. I also preferred The Thorn Birds movie to the novel, though it followed the book closely. The book dragged in spots. The movie captured all the pivotal points.

Kindle freebies are addicting. I know exactly what you mean. :)I still like to read a series in order but if they're almost stand-alone's where there is no overarching plot, then I think I can manage not reading them in order. Otherwise, I need to. :)

Oh yeah, Kindle freebies are addicting! Glad I don't fall victim to those too much! I tend to stick with my known authors until someone really recommends another!

Here's my Tuesday Post

Have a GREAT day!

My last trip to the bookstore ended up with me leaving with 6 books. But hey, I got that down from 12!
I haven't read a lot of classics either. I just don't like them.

I refuse to download Kindle freebies. I know it would stress me out. No NetGalley either. If I'm going to review a book, you better send me something in the mail!

I haven't read a lot of classics either! And I rarely go to bookstores...which is not hard since my town only has ONE and I don't have any money anyway. haha. x) I love my library for that reason (although it sucks to send the precious books back. I just want to keep them forever!)

I enjoy visiting your blog.
We have a lot in common.

I prefer to buy my own books, or get them free. If I get a library book I worry about getting it back on time. However, when our boys were younger we went there often.

I haven't read a lot of classics, either. I do have several on my Kindle. But, I have many more that are recent.

I try to read series books in order. Even if they could be read as stand-alone. I feel like I'm missing something if I don't.

I finally stopped downloading freebies, on my Kindle. Even tho I'm a proficient reader, I have much more than I will ever read.

I am addicted to blogging. I love visiting and visitors.

I rarely read popular books. I just have so many to read, I don't have time...

I don't know how people read books in a series out of order. Seriously, I can't fathom doing that. Even books that stand alone, but are related to other books have to be read in order by me. I'm neurotic that way, I guess!

I've needed to buy a new bookcase for months as well! Right now, all the books I can't shelve have turned the living room into a kind of book refugee centre. =P Since I'm very particular about organising my books, this bothers me on a psychic level (Yes, truly--LOL!) . . . but I really can't afford to invest in good furniture right now. Maybe for Christmas? *fingers crossed*

I don't read a lot of classics either, which is strange because I do enjoy them. It's just that they take more time than other books and when I'm busy with school, I want something lighter. I will pick up two or three this summer, hopefully :) Thanks for all your confessions!
