Blogging: Fun or a Chore?

Every once in a while I feel I skirt that blogging is fun and blogging is too much work line. I haven't taken new book review requests here in nearly two years, yet the requests keep coming. I planned to catch up on my reading this year, but I found I still couldn't say no to some books that seemed too interesting to turn away. In addition, my reading time hasn't been what it usually is. It doesn't help that I maintain multiple blogs: six at my last count.

The reality is I know how hard it is to promote your work, which is why I want to say yes to every proposal that comes my way. Even though I work in online book promotion, I don't have the magic formula for selling books. What I can do, however, is spread the word about authors' books and give my fellow authors a hand.

If I owe you a review--and I know there are many of you--I haven't forgotten. I am slowly working my way through my TBR pile. But I also need to read for my own entertainment every once in a while, so if I break away to read something else, I hope you don't hold it against me. I have my lists. I know what I owe and, I promise, I will follow through on every request.

In 2014, I plan to reduce the number of virtual book tours I participate in simply so I leave myself more available to what I owe. That will also help me keep enjoying blogging.

Thank you for your patience and your loyal readership. It is greatly appreciated.

Have you ever felt blogging is more a chore than a pleasure? What have you done about it?

I feel that way sometimes. That's where stepping away from blogging/taking a break can come in.
