Exactly! That's why I had to read a copy of Force of Habit: Sister Madeleine Investigates by Cash Peters.
Sister Madeleine, a cloistered nun at St. Winifred's, emerges from seclusion when she receives word that Howard Barley, a former comrade and global publishing tycoon, has died under strange and grisly circumstances. And he's not the only one. Several of her former comrades and friends have been murdered.
Madeleine and her young postulant, Roberta, take up residence on Barley's estate, Milkwood Hall, which has been bequeathed to Madeleine, along with the rest of his fortune. The women soon find themselves in extreme danger. Odd noises, disappearing rooms, mysterious messages and more, force Madeleine to rely on skills she thought she had left behind, so that she can capture a killer before she becomes his next victim.
In many ways Force of Habit is a superb book. The main character is unique. The author has a talent for pulling his reader into the story and keeping her engaged. It's funny, but it's also an action-packed story with tons of twists and turns.
The book needed an editor to polish it a bit, but it didn't distract much from the story. What disappointed me was the ending. Now, it seems this is the first book of a planned series, so I am willing to give an author leeway in creating an ending that will encourage readers to pick up the next book, but I don't care for loose ends. Books in a series, especially mysteries, are usually self-contained so they provide a satisfying reading experience. Some readers might not mind this style. I felt frustrated that I was left hanging after spending my time reading the book.

She certainly has created a unique protagonist. Cash Peters is a great author moniker also.
