Two book giveaways are done and now we're into the third week of
The Book Connection's Summer 2010 Book Giveaway!
This week we have an inspirational
Book Pack for our readers that includes three books from the
Love Inspired line.
Book Pack # 3 includes:
April in Bloom by Annie Jones. This description is from the back cover of the book:
Sheriff Kurt Mulldoon had moved to a home out of town to get away from meddling townspeople and attractive women, but one of each was standing on his front porch.
It seemed ninety-year-old Miss Cora, his house's previous owner, had convinced the one woman who piqued Kurt's fancy, April Shelnutt, to take her for a visit. And not long after they arrived, Cora suffered an injury--to her backside.
Kurt's neighborly duty meant he'd offer his help, and let them into his home. But he wasn't letting April into his heart, no matter how pretty--and right--she looked standing in the doorway.
At Home in Dry Creek by Janet Tronstad. Again the description is from the back cover:
With two kids to raise and her ex-husband in jail, Barbara Strong moved to Dry Creek for a fresh start. She loved the town, but apparently her feelings weren't reciprocated. Didn't the folks in Dry Creek trust her?
Truth was, Sheriff Carl Wall had asked everyone to leave Barbara alone so she could heal. The sheriff vowed to protect the pretty, vulnerable newcomer--from suitors and from any of her ex-husband's cronies who might try to contact her. But would he be able to do his job if he was in danger of losing his heart?
No Place Like Home by Debra Clopton. Back cover blurb:
When her ancient RV caught fire, candy maker Dottie Hart was stranded in Mule Hollow. So much for her promise to help her brother with his women's shelter. She would never make it to California now!
Help arrived in the nick of time, in the shape of handsome sheriff Brady Cannon. And though Dottie made it clear she was just passing through, the local matchmakers had another agenda. No single woman had yet encountered them without leaving happily married...a sticky situation for the lovely confectioner.
Perhaps Brady could convince her that love was its own sweet reward...
Also included is
The Lightkeeper's Daughter (A Mercy Falls Novel) by Colleen Coble. I received this as part of the Amazon Vine Program. In this book, Addie Sullivan leads a quiet life by the northern California shore as the daughter of the lightkeeper. After her father's death, she endures her mother's bitterness, until one stormy night, a stranger appears and tells her she might not be who she thinks she is. Addie discovers she might be the long lost, feared dead Julia Eaton, from a wealthy family in Mercy Falls.
The man, who might just be her uncle, convinces Addie to go with him to Eaton Hall, pretending to be the new governess for her father's grandson who lives on the estate while his father, John, a navy lieutenant is away. Her uncle wants to be sure she's really Julia before revealing her to the family. John returns to Eaton Hall during his leave and soon falls in love with Addie, and she with him. But a sinister plot threatens to keep John and Addie apart. As Addie uncovers more clues about her past, the loving family she once wanted is within her grasp, but will she turn from the love of her heavenly Father in order to obtain it?
I gave this a 5-star review and will be looking for more books by Colleen Coble.
And because everyone loves uplifting real life stories, I am also adding in a copy of
Chicken Soup for the American Idol Soul. There is a special Foreword by Paula Abdul, along with contributions from Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, and more!
