It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - Jul 1

Welcome to It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

Welcome to the first Monday in July! We are sitting in the beach house in North Carolina, while a storm rumbles through. We are expecting to have an indoor activity day today. The weather is should be nice otherwise, so we can't complain.

Because we had to take two cars down instead of one--thanks to the insurance company who won't offer a rental the same as my Buick while my car is repaired--I couldn't read anything on the drive down. However, I finished one book last night. This is a short story collection. I enjoyed the first story, wasn't a fan of the second one, and thought the last story was okay. My review will be posted on July 3rd.

Also on my to-do list this week is an editing project that needs to be done. I'm also a beta reader for a local author friend whose novel I need to provide feedback on.

I've got five days to finish this book from NetGalley.

Should be writing my review of these two during vacation.

I started this one yesterday.

These are also on my list to read while here.

Upcoming events:
  • Is Truth Stranger Than Fiction? You Decide... by JB Miller - July 3 (Review)
  • The Righteous Arrows by Brian J. Morra - July (Review)
  • Knowing by Mark Cox - August 22 (Review)
  • Death in St. George's by M. A. Monnin - August 23 (Review)
  • Hollywood Underworld by Lindy S. Hudis - August 30 (Review)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - June 17

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a nice week. As is typical when we are planning to leave for vacation at the end of the month, my schedule is hectic. In addition to a closing coming up today, some of us spent two days at the Wilbraham Peach Blossom Festival. It was a ton of work and a ton of fun! On Sunday, I worked in the morning, but took the afternoon off to spend with family. We played games together, which was awesome. On our way to take the man of the house out for ice cream, our car was hit. We are all fine. My car is not. So, if I don't visit your blog right away, please don't take offense. My jampacked scheduled for Monday just got busier as I deal with insurance and other blah things like that. Please pray they can fix my car, since I just paid it off in October and was looking forward to not having a car payment for a while.

On the reading front, I downloaded this book from NetGalley for an August review.

I posted a First Chapter Review of this rockstar romance. You can read my review here.

I read more of this one Saturday night. I have a couple more chapters to go.

I finished this one on Sunday. Look for a review soon.

My brain is so tired that I haven't read much of this one lately. The topic, however, is fascinating.

All these are coming on vacation.

Welcome to June! Can you believe we are starting the sixth month of 2024? Hope you had a great week. Lots going on here, so been slow in responding to comments. In addition to working, I finished an editing job, and have another one right behind it. The girls and I went to the CT Bridal & Wedding Expo on Sunday. The Lil' Diva is in full planning mode.

In my reading world, I finished this one. Great information, and I think an updated edition might be helpful.

I started this one. Don't think I will finish it. Content is good. Not a fan of how the narrator delivers the material.

My review of this book appeared Friday. You can read it here.

I started this one on NetGalley.

I need to read these two.

I still didn't finish this one, but I will read the last few chapters soon.

These will come on vacation with me in July. Not sure what else I will bring, but my Kindle will join me.

This new arrival came Friday.

Upcoming virtual book tours:
  • Royally Arranged by Amber Malloy - June 4 (First Chapter Review)
  • Rock, Crush, and Roll by Hunter Snow - June 12 (First Chapter Review)
  • Is Truth Stranger Than Fiction? You Decide... by JB Miller - July 3 (Review)
  • The Righteous Arrows by Brian J. Morra - July (Review)

Such great Christmas news to share this week at the Christmas Year Round blog. You can check that out here.

That's it for me. Hope you enjoy your week! Looking forward to seeing what you're reading.

Before we get into family and book news, we take a moment to honor and remember all who paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting freedom around the world.

While, I didn't manage to squeak out any days off this past week, we had some nice family news and some sad news from across the miles.

The Lil' Diva said yes to the dress. That part of wedding plans is now behind us.

John Boy celebrated a birthday over the weekend. He made me a mama many moons ago. I am thrilled to see him settled into a life that brings him joy. We took him out to breakfast on Sunday.

As you might recall, in 2014, I went on a trip with other fans of Little House on the Prairie. One of the women I met in Wisconsin was related to Laura Ingalls Wilder. She has been a dear friend for years. Last week, she passed away. We will all miss her very much.

Shifting to book news, on Audible, I read this book while on appointments. It's a good book, and it is very in-depth. This one took a while.

I've been listening to this one lately and have about half an hour left.

I am almost finished this true crime book. Look for my review on Friday, May 31st.

I started this one on NetGalley.

I need to read these two.

I still didn't finish this one, but I will read the last few chapters soon.

These are books I added to my Kindle recently. Maybe I will tackle them on vacation, too.
