Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: What is my Superpower?

The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews. They offer this blog hop as a weekly prompt to help you gain new friends and visitors. You don't have to participate every week, but if you decide to post and join the blog hop for a week, Long and Short Reviews asks that you share your link on their weekly post on their website (it will be the top post on the home page each Wednesday morning). The link list remains open for new links for 48 hours. Visit the other bloggers participating to see what they discuss that week. Comments are appreciated.

Hi-de-ho! Here we are on Wednesday again. How's everything going in your world? Some neat books arrived over the last two days that I am looking forward to talking about on Monday. Other than that, the schedule looks like work, work, and work. :)

Today's Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is such a fun one. We are answering the question: What is my Superpower? There are a ton I wish I possessed, like:

  • The ability to listen to two conversations simultaneously and follow what is happening in both.
  • Being able to read and speak multiple languages easily.
  • Being able to pick the fastest line at the grocery store.
  • The ability to stay calm in a crisis. I am the exact opposite.
But if I had to choose one Superpower that speaks to who I am as a person, it would definitely be that I am deeply empathetic. I feel everything. I absorb other people's emotions. I have a strong desire to help and care for others. It is totally intense, which is why I need to retreat after being in a crowd of people to unwind, decompress, and simply breathe. It can be overwhelming, especially if I am around someone who zaps too much of my energy. I also struggle to set boundaries. Despite the challenges, I can't imagine being any other way. It helps me serve my clients, makes me a better parent, and eliminates the fear of apologizing.  More than once in my career, I've been told, "Never apologize." That's silly. Apologizing can lead to forgiveness, healing, and strengthened relationships.

Now, it's your turn. What is your superpower? How do you use it in your daily life?

Good for you! Our world desperately needs more empathy.

I'm a similar way. I can be empathic to an unhealthy degree (in my opinion). I feel everything deeply, especially if I see or even think about an animal being hurt. I can't sleep because of it sometimes. I also wish I could read and speak many languages. That would be incredible!
