Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Welcome to July! Today is a Top Ten Tuesday Freebie/Throwback, so I decided to review the bookish promises I made in January.
Top Ten Bookish Promises for 2025
Complete my Goodreads challenge
I am behind on this goal. I adjusted the number of books because I feel like the second half of 2025 is going to be busier than the first. I have some reviews to post, but even with those, I will be behind eight books. We will see how the year goes.
Read 15 books from my TBR Pile.
I've read seven books from my TBR pile this year, so I am on track to complete this one if I don't take on too many virtual book tour requests.
Read 4 leadership books.
I haven't indulged in any of these this year, instead focusing more on personal development.
Read 2 personal or professional development books.
I finished one personal development book, which I haven't talked about yet.
Read a book in a genre I don't usually read.
I completed this early on when I read the dark psychological fantasy thriller, Ghosting Academy.
Complete Amelia's Mission.
Haven't touched this at all this year. Not looking good for the second half of the year.
Complete Sheltered Hearts.
Haven't touched this one either. Work, wedding, and editing have kept me busy. Partially disappointed that I never heard back from that literary agent, which didn't encourage me to continue either. I will reach out sometime in July, and then move on if nothing concrete happens. Still, I need to move forward with this and plot the next book.
Invest in a new author website.
I was thrilled to finally update my author website this year. I love the new look.
Plot the last book in the series.
I haven't done much with this, but I already know who it will be about. I need to finalize Sheltered Hearts first.
Complete NaNoWriMo.
Since NaNoWriMo has been dissolved, this item is no longer relevant. It doesn't mean I couldn't spend a month writing a book, but I certainly wouldn't do it in November.
How are your bookish goals/promises coming along?

I haven't even thought about my bookish goals, not really. I mostly wanted to read books off my TBR list, get caught up on several series, try to read more nonfiction, and let my mood dictate my choices. And so far I've been doing pretty well. Though I need to make a better effort on the nonfiction goal. Fun TTT! :D
This reminds me to check my bookish goals. I’d sort of forgotten about them, so thanks for the reminder.
It can be fun not to have a regimented plan, Lark. Sounds like you're making great progress. Thanks for visiting.
Glad you found my list helpful, Lydia. Appreciate your visit.
I think for the *most* part I am on track with my goals. I am considering dropping some of the reading challenges I started this summer though, LOL, they are stressing me! We have to give ourselves grace when we have the busy times, right?!
I've done ok with my reading goals for the year. I want to read at least 26 owned books in 2025. So far, I've been able to remove 15 books from my shelves. So I would say I'm doing quite well with that goal.

It's a good idea to check back and see how you are going against your goals. I haven't looked back at mine but I think I am mostly on track!
These are great goals, and it looks like you've made steady progress! Congrats on your new website too!
Sounds like you're doing great on your goals! Good luck with finishing them.
Happy TTT!
You are right---this is a great time of year to take another look at our goals!
I had to adjust my Goodreads goals, too. I was way behind and I'm hoping to get caught up. This post is reminding me to check my other challenges and see where I stand. This is a good time to do it since we are halfway through the year. Good luck with all of your goals.
Great post! I really need to do a mid-year check in on the goals too.
