Happy hump day! Hope your week is going well. Today, we are talking about television. Today's Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge asks us to share the first show we remember watching. Keeping in mind that I am a Gen Xer, we only had a handful of channels back then: ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and Channel 38 out of Boston.
My earliest recollection is watching Sesame Street on PBS. Long before Elmo was even imagined, Grover, Bert, Ernie, Big Bird (my favorite), Kermit, Oscar the Grouch, Count von Count, Gordon, Susan, Bob, Luis, and Mr. Hooper lived on Sesame Street, helping me learn how to read, spell, and count. I still sing some of the songs from the show, and used to sing them to my children. Here are a few of my favorites:

We picked the same answer this week!
I didn't know Elmo wasn't on Sesame Street from the start. I used to love watching this show when I was very small. It would be on at lunchtime in the UK and I'd watch while I ate. Big Bird was my favourite.
It's funny to think that several generations of kids have no idea Elmo wasn't always around. Hahaha.
Here is my post.
Thank you for coming by! A bit too old for Sesame Street (I am of the Captain Kangaroo era) but the kids loved it.
I was 9 1/2 when Sesame Street started. 🙄 The first show I remember watching was 60 Minutes 😂 - Maybe it is a good thing I used last year's prompt.
That's so funny. Lydia. I miss those days of PBS learning. Judy, I watched Captain Kangaroo, too!
Elmo came out in the early 1980s. Honestly, I preferred Grover. My sister had a stuffed Grover, and I had a Big Bird stuffed toy, but he had a hard, plastic beak. You didn't want to get hit with that thing. :0
Right, Aymee? Elmo was not an original muppet.
I was wondering where you came up with that topic, Rebecca. It was a great one!
I used to watch Sesame Street when I was little. I think it still going on PBS till this day.
