Top Ten Tuesday: The First 10 Books I Randomly Grabbed from My Shelf & Tell Me Something Tuesday: Where Do You Purchase the Majority of Your Books?

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Happy Tuesday! We are expecting a sunny, windy day today. Almost all the leaves are down. I need to plant my bulbs that arrived this weekend.

This week's Top Ten Tuesday has us randomly selecting 10 books from our bookshelves. Since I maintain my shelves digitally, I put my book spreadsheet and my Kindle freebie book spreadsheet into a list randomizer. Lest you think I don't have enough reading material, that totalled 1014 books. Here are my...

First 10 Books I Randomly Grabbed from My Shelf

  1. Before Anne After by James Paddock
  2. True Crime in the Civil War by Tobin T. Buhk
  3. Spring Valley, The Laura Ingalls Wilder "connection", 1890 by Mary Jo Danthe (Bought in a store during my 2014 Little House on the Prairie Cast Reunion trip)
  4. Design on a Crime by Ginny Aiken
  5. Christmas of Love by Erin Wright
  6. Coincidences by Maria Savva
  7. Writing the Breakout Novel by Donald Maass
  8. Honeymoons Can Be Murder by Connie Shelton
  9. Property by Valerie Martin (Bought at a writer's conference)
  10. Samson & the Little Bird by Elise Lowe
I only recalled owning three of these. Some of the freebies have been on that spreadsheet a long time. Have you read any of these?

Tell Me Something Tuesday (TMST) is hosted by Jen Twimom at That's What I'm Talking AboutTMST is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general. Participation is optional, and you leave your comments in the weekly post when participating. Check it out if you would like to join.

It's confession time for me. I buy most of my books in three places: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or library book sales/used bookstores. Thiftbooks will likely overtake Amazon at some point, but the scale is definitely tilted toward Amazon right now.

How about you? Where do you buy most of your books? Try not to shame me too badly. LOL!

I love reading everyone's lists, but I don't know any of the books above.

I am unfamiliar with all of these books! The books I own mostly come from thrift stores, followed by the Book Outlet (I miss the physical store), and a Canadian chain called Indigo.

I am often surprised when I browse my digital shelves to find books I'd forgotten I have.

I've never heard of any of these, but Honeymoons Can Be Murder sounds good!

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Haha I have so many kindle freebies. I chose my list from a Goodreads list. It's fairly up to date with maybe the last couple of years missing 🤔

Have a great week!

I haven't read any of these books. Honeymoons Can Be Murder sounds good. I've been wanting to read that author. Hope you get a chance to read a few.

Most of my new purchases are Kindle books so come from Amazon. I will buy physical books when I go to author events.

I haven't read any of these, but Honeymoons Can Be Murder is definitely an eye catching title! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you

I don't think I've heard of any of those 10 random books! LOL. Since most of my reading is ebook, and I own a Kindle, I agree, Amazon is the easiest way to get books, any time day or night. I started trying to pick up some print books over the past year and try to get those from a local shop.

I haven't read any of these.

I purchase most of my books from Amazon, too. It's terrible, but you just can't beat them for speed, price, and convenience. I do love shopping at my local indie, but "local" still means almost an hour round trip, so I only go there a few times a year.

Happy TTT!

I hadn't heard of Indigo. Barnes and Noble is what is over here. Love them, but I do miss our smaller independent bookstores. Thanks for stopping by, Pam.

Me, too, Deb! I have so many that I don't even recall grabbing them. Thanks for the visit.

I agree, Ash. Hope you get to read it. Thanks for stopping by.

Me, too, Emily. I am ashamed of how many I have. Thanks for visiting today.

Thanks, Lark. The randomizer did a nice job. Appreciate your visit.

I tend to order more Kindle books these days, too, Marg. I am running out of room for physical books. Thanks for stopping by.

That book seems popular today, Poinsettia. Hope you get to read it. Thanks for the visit.

I love browsing local bookshops, but we don't have a ton around here. Thanks for visiting, Jen.

Great to see you here, Susan. It's true that Amazon makes it so easy. That is a long trip. Probably takes me half an hour to get to the closest local bookstore. Would love to open my own one day. Thanks for visiting.
