It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and Mailbox Monday - May 3

Welcome to It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and Mailbox Monday.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

Welcome to May! Hard to believe we are already five months into the new year. Massachusetts continues to make progress toward reopening. Soon our stadiums, arenas, and ballparks will be allowed 25% capacity, and by the end of the month we expect more loosening of restrictions on other industries. I received my first vaccine last week and will get my second shot by the middle of the month.

This past Sunday we celebrated Orthodox Easter. Since my father-in-law died last year on Easter Monday, it's still tough, but we were blessed to spend the day with family.

We are expecting a warm, but somewhat wet week. It will be nice to have temperatures no lower than 40. I am ready for nice weather and more time outdoors.

In my reading world, my review of this book appeared at The Children's and Teens' Book Connection on April 30.

I also reviewed this one here.

I need to finish this one next.

I am reading these three.

This one is next.

Mailbox Monday is a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued. Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. It now has a permanent home at the Mailbox Monday blog.

Not much in the mailbox lately, but this little gem arrived. I will be reviewing it in July.

This collection focuses on how things come together - and how they fall apart to come together.

That's all for me. Hope you have a great week. I look forward to visiting your blogs.

  1. I love visiting around on all the book blogs and hearing how you are all doing in various states and countries. You must love that everything is opening up so much more. Now you've made me want to go off and find out more about Orthodox Easter. Happy reading.

  3. Hi Cheryl

It doesn't seem possible that we have pretty much been under either lockdown or restrictions for 14 months, here in the UK. The time has actually really flown by and it is now seeming strange to be given that little bit of freedom, although we are both still very cautious, despite having been double jabbed!

Up until today, the weather has been really kind to us, however it has now waited until a Holiday Monday (May Day) to turn, with severe gales and torrential rain forecast. Just perfectly timed to destroy the blossom on all the trees, when they were looking so spectacular!

You have a great selection and mix of books in your schedule and I hope that you enjoy them all. One of my blogging friends has already finished reading 'Impermanence' and had only good things to say about it.

    Have a great week :)

  6. It is strange to finally have more freedom, and I think we are all cautiously optimistic.

Enjoy your week and your books, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  8. This week the high temperatures are all supposed to be around 50. That's better than snow but still too cold for me to voluntarily walk outdoors. I want real Spring and Summer to arrive soon. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  9. I'm definitely cautiously optimistic, but not sure I'll go "hog wild" until our vaxx rates go up more. Happy reading!

  10. It's definitely encouraging to see things open up a bit. Unfortunately, the covid numbers are still climbing in my area. I hope that things will drop off soon! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories

  11. I was surprised and a bit dismayed that we are in the fifth month of 2021 already.
I don't know why I thought you lived further south. I saw our family practitioner today and she said she thought Florida was well on the way (near 80%) to herd immunity between known cases, survivors, and vaccinations. I hope things will loosen up for you and your state.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!

  12. Happy Easter! Our governor lifted our mask mandate last week except for a few places and pretty much opened everything back up. A lot of places are still requiring them. Saturday I went to the mall (masks required) and the grocery store (masks not required) and then the drugstore (masks required). Sunday I went to Mass (masks required). Schools still require them. My office building doesn't, but some folks are still wearing them. If I'm in the elevator lobby with someone who is wearing a mask, I'll put mine on. Otherwise, I figure my shots were good enough.
